changing shoes arrives at our doorstep

finally after months of waiting, tina sloan‘s book, changing shoes, has arrived on our doorstep, and not a minute too soon! tina is performing in new york city tonight at florence gould hall for an intimate group of new yorkers. the girls at postmark* are honored to attend. most of all we think it is the perfect excuse to do a little damage to the credit card and go shoe shopping!

so… as soon as that little parcel arrived at our door, we popped it in our bag and we took off to one of our favorite boutiques. the book was more than happy to contribute.

tonight i will be wearing the wedge ankle bootlet by ysl. i cannot wait to show them off. i can only imagine what the other shoe obsessed attendees will be wearing.

a little over a year ago, i had the pleasure to meet tina sloan of guiding light fame. now, i never watched guiding light ~ it just was not my soap, no offense miss tina.

i happened to be a general hospital fan ~ who could resist the sonny and brenda love affair???

but, meeting tina was a wondrous fated moment in my life. she was in the process of ending her 26 year career playing nurse lillian raines on guiding light and writing a book about her life and her experiences {she was the Tetley Tea girl in the 70′s, the Trident girl and more}. originally i thought it was about beauty and how she survived in the game of acting for so long without any plastic surgery, (she’s had none at all)… and she is still beautiful today, beyond beautiful. i wish i had a recording of her laugh. she is a woman after my own heart. she has no fear in laughing out loud and truly showing her joy.

but, after getting a sneak peek at her book, “Changing Shoes: Getting Older — Not Old — with Style, Humor, and Grace”, i realized it is about much more than outside beauty. this is a must read for every woman of every age throughout their life ~ from turning 18 to falling in love to falling out of love and falling in love again, not being the youngest woman in the room anymore, having children, getting your life back after children, climbing Kilimanjaro, yes climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in pink furry boots ~ that is tina to a tee. the idea of the title…with every new experience, adventure, and heartbreak she changes shoes ~ the shoes you wear throughout your life show the real wear and tear. shoes always fit.

so, today, i receive an email from her with exciting news that her book, the book she has been working on non-stop for 18 months, is being published this September and with that email some photos of what her book has been up to. i will post them below, but before i do, i will tell you that i laughed out loud, so loud that everyone in the office turned and stared at me. tina’s book has been making a tour around the country, various friends and fans have been sending this photos to tina directly. if i do say so myself… her book is sure having a lot of fun. just as much as tina has in the book itself. if you are so inclined to get a glimpse into tina’s life, to be inspired, to laugh, to cry, to know you are not alone with your experiences i highly recommend this read. you can purchase it at Barnes and Noble, Amazon and others.
