six more days and we are officially ‘back to school’, and here at the markoff group we are making the most of it ~ riding our new bicycles from Bowery Lane Bikes to and from work, popping out for an afternoon ice cream, and overall enjoying the long sunny days while they last.

however, there is no need to shed a tear, fall is sure to be filled with excitement and new inspiration ~ the foliage changing colors, autumn themed dinner parties, the new amsterdam market every sunday starting in september, and my personal favorite ~ spiced apple cider, i just simply adore it, and most of all we are obsessed with our clients new fall products and we think you will agree.

your bag says everything…

as most can attest, i simply love handbags. i think they would even go so far to say that i have an obsession with YSL handbags. it has come to the point that i visit the YSL boutique on 57th and 5th and walk out with a new Muse or Roady that i then proceed to hide from my husband, who knows exactly what i am doing, but he humors me anyway. he gives me that look. you know the one?

the look...

i think your bag and the color of your bag speaks to your mood and feelings. it is like a pair of shoes. it ALWAYS fits. and on these hot and humid summer days that counts. most recently, i have departed from my navy blue Roady bag and into a more structure classic dove grey large Muse by YSL. I am loving how subdued and relaxed it makes me feel. i know some may say i am crazy. but it does the trick for me. i look at it and i seem to exhale, my shoulders relax, and my jaw loosens.

yesterday, i had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Jennifer Hassell of Orange and Pear . she has a keen, amazing eye. i am loving everything on her site. so much so that i have departed from my YSL addiction and have purchased a new bag and a new designer. could it be? yes it could! i bought a Flea Bag. it should arrive any day and until then i am filled with nervous anticipation. i just know i will love it. i already have such plans for our new adventures. it will become my traveling companion for my upcoming jaunt to Greece and Turkey, perfect for my Istanbul market purchases.

stay tuned for more updates on the adventures of my new bag, and until then… visit Jennifer’s site and buy one for yourself.

my crush on merton

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

A few days ago my husband made me watch one of the endless videos he found on You Tube. This was per usual of him since his day job is producing a clip based television show. Like a good wife, I shrugged my shoulders and said “yes dear, I would love to watch the video.”

Little did I know that this video and the featured man in the video would become my newest sickness. His name was Merton. He wore a grey hoodie and big black glasses, not the most becoming of outfits. However he had mad skills on the piano.

He was funny, beyond funny. I had a crush, a big one.

my most random crush

I stared in awe as Merton interacted with complete strangers. The video ended. My husband left the room. I ran back to the computer and googled ‘Merton’. More videos popped up and I watched, obsessively. The days continued ~ I went to dinner. I talked about Merton. I went to a meeting. I talked about Merton. I told random strangers about Merton. I realized ~ I was sick. I went to the one place where I could shout out my sickness, no one would judge me. I could geek out about everything Merton. I started a Merton obsession group.
