Oh the weather outside is frightful, but my accessories are so delightful

Friday, January 21st, 2011

days like this in new york just make me want to curl up on the couch, stay in my pajama’s all day, pop in a hitchcock movie and call it a day.  however, unless it is a state of emergency, i’m going to work. successfully maneuvering through the snow-laden streets  of new york without falling victim to those deceitful foot-deep slush puddles is a nearly impossible feat. luckily, there are a few key items to make your commute much more pleasant.

la canadienne ‘secret’ over the knee boot

waterproof, over the knee and leather to boot (sorry i had to), these boots are great for trudging through deep snow   and slush. With a low heel and moisture-wicking, antimicrobial lining these boots will keep your feet dry without compromising your sense of style.

cashmere socks

my favorite indulgence. extravagant and practical, cashmere socks will keep your feet warm and dry, while adding a little bit of luxury to your morning commute.

prada vitello daino expandable tote bag

just because it is dreary outside does not mean your outfit needs to follow suit (i am on a roll today!).  this robin’s-egg leather tote will add a pop of color while protecting your laptop from any freezing rain or cab splashes.

vosges haut chocolat la parisienne couture cocoa

A favorite of Rachel Ray, this deep cacao blend is perfect for a cold morning pick-me-up.

inspire me

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

as everyone in the office, friends and especially my husband can attest to ~ i am sick about tear sheets. i subscribe to at least thirty publications, keep in mind that does not even include the many, many print magazines i purchase at newsstands and add in the daily blog and website perusing, and my life is overcome with advertisements, skinny girls in pretty clothes, mouth watering food, and give or a take, a few how to articles.

is this a method of procrastination? or is it my way to be inspired?

as i believe everything happens for a reason and at the right time, wouldn’t you know it, but this morning i received an email from an editor at traditional home with an attached pdf, titled ‘inspire me’

inspire me!

these two words give me my answer. yes, tear sheets, print magazines, photos, food, travel and even how to articles inspire me!

at all times i carry my ‘tear sheets‘ folder with me.

lots and lots of inspiration in this one little yellow folder

i pamper myself and get a mani/pedi with only my magazines and folder to accompany me. i read, i think, i smile, i tear… over and over again…

crinkled inspiration

the endless ideas of where to go, how to redecorate, what to buy…

more and more inspiration

and sometimes… as i revisit my little yellow folder i think, ‘why on earth did i tear this out?’

unending inspiration

i am making a bet with myself to chronicle how certain tear sheets inspire me. every few weeks you will begin to see little posts about articles, photos, or blogs that have inspired me

couture dior

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

The vibrant splash of Christian Dior’s Fall 2009 Couture reminisces of backstage, vintage Hollywood.

The vibrantly costumed models waltzed before audiences at the Avenue Montaigne headquarters this week amidst a bountiful garden backdrop.  The sharp fashions of Dior’s 2009 Fall Collection bare midcentury inspirations.  Sophisticated cuts keep the dresses current, while the brilliant hues paint a playful line.

The collection is a glamorous parade of large skirts and wide hats, but the most memorable element of the Couture show is the varying level of undress.  Between properly clad, fully attired models, half-dressed gals strutted portions of their ensemble.  Still perfectly coiffed and manicured, the exposed gals exhibited their vintage garters, hose, brassieres and lacy unmentionables to the audience.  The monochrome under-things were juxtaposed against the lavish garments in an intentioned gesture towards the semi-nudity on display.

As if the models simply forgot to pull on their last article of clothing, the classically beautiful, slightly undressed collection recalls the glamour of retro-Hollywood infused with the provocative expose of lingerie.
