is this real life? the mother’s day tea collection sweepstakes!

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

the tea collection really knows how to treat a mother right. the tea apparel collection has teamed up with vosges haut chocolat and stroller traffic to treat one lucky mama to an unbelievable mother’s day gift, and they’ve combined us gals’ two favorite things: chocolate and clothes. get ready for this: one entire year of vosges haut chocolat and a one thousand dollar tea shopping spree! what could be better? not a mom? well call yours, make her enter, and remind her of the importance of sharing, a value she instilled in you long ago.  but i have a feeling whoever may win, she is going to have a bit of trouble sharing after she takes a bite of any one of vosges premium chocolate treats and takes a peek at the tea collection’s new summer line.

to enter fill out the short form on tea’s website here by 11:59pm on may 7th. the winner will be selected randomly within three days of the contest close date.

april is austism awareness month

Friday, April 1st, 2011

april marks the start of autism awareness month, and we here at postmark want to tell you about an organization very close to our heart: kyle’s treehouse.

kyle’s treehouse is a non-profit online community where families dealing with autism can go for support, find treatment options, join discussions, and help other families as well.  founded by jennifer and jeffery westphal after their son kyle was diagnosed with autism in 1998, kyle’s treehouse is now one of the best resources around for families dealing with autism.  kyle, a budding fashion designer, designs one-of-a-kind handscreened t-shirts that can be purchased here , with all proceeds going to support kyle’s treehouse.

if you want to support this vibrant and much-needed community, donations are also greatly appreciated and can be donated via kyle’s treehouse website.

two postmark favorites are also doing some great things for autism awareness month. both linnea’s lights and hester van eeghen will be donating a portion of their profits to kyle’s treehouse this april.

linnea’s lights

linnea’s lights will be donating 10% of each sale to kyle’s treehouse throughout the month of april. each natural double-wicked soy candle is hand-poured, clean burning and packaged in recycled materials. visit orange and pear and order linnea’s lights’ new spring scents such as lavender, white coral and mimosa while helping a worthy cause at the same time!

hester van eeghen

you won’t feel guilty splurging on dutch designer hester van eeghan’s stunning leather handbags this april, as van eeghan is donating a portion of her sales to kyle’s treehouse. visit her u.s. site for her entire collection. here are two of our favorites:

springtime fashion

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

it is finally march and according to my countdown (which usually starts in september), spring officially starts in wait for it, wait for it….13 days!!!! and if you are like me, spring is my favorite time for fashion.the bright colors, charming accessories and layered looks have me pining for spring every other season of the year.  this season its all about paradoxes: bold colors and head-to-toe white, 70′s style and 80′s prep, ladylike lace and biker-chic. so whether you’re country-club chic or a biker babe, this spring has a trend for all fashionistas.  here are a few of my favorite pieces:

bold colors: anthropologie’s glanz dress

whiteout: michael kors linen pants

70′s inspired: dvf ‘s harper cube day bag

reinvented prep: anthropologie’s twisted stripe dress

lace: anthropologie’s clearing mist top

biker chic: alexander mcqueen’s skull fashion scarf

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but my accessories are so delightful

Friday, January 21st, 2011

days like this in new york just make me want to curl up on the couch, stay in my pajama’s all day, pop in a hitchcock movie and call it a day.  however, unless it is a state of emergency, i’m going to work. successfully maneuvering through the snow-laden streets  of new york without falling victim to those deceitful foot-deep slush puddles is a nearly impossible feat. luckily, there are a few key items to make your commute much more pleasant.

la canadienne ‘secret’ over the knee boot

waterproof, over the knee and leather to boot (sorry i had to), these boots are great for trudging through deep snow   and slush. With a low heel and moisture-wicking, antimicrobial lining these boots will keep your feet dry without compromising your sense of style.

cashmere socks

my favorite indulgence. extravagant and practical, cashmere socks will keep your feet warm and dry, while adding a little bit of luxury to your morning commute.

prada vitello daino expandable tote

prada vitello daino expandable tote bag

just because it is dreary outside does not mean your outfit needs to follow suit (i am on a roll today!).  this robin’s-egg leather tote will add a pop of color while protecting your laptop from any freezing rain or cab splashes.

vosges haut chocolat la parisienne couture cocoa

A favorite of Rachel Ray, this deep cacao blend is perfect for a cold morning pick-me-up.
